Catherine Steer

Artistic Director of Queensland School of Performing Arts


Originally from the UK emigrating to Australia in 2009. Catherine is a performing artist and has had a career in high school and primary teaching. 

''My passion is tied up in theatre and in this company.  You will find me to be  constantly energised, enthusiastic and caring. I am the session leader for most of the classes at QSPA. I love teaching, and I love performing and in my job I am so lucky to be able to do both!'' 

Catherine is constantly updating her skills and has specialisms in Mask acting, Commedia Dell Arte, Puppetry, Physical Theatre, Composition and Devising, Immersive Theatre, Circus Skills, Theatre of The Oppressed.  Her main passion is in introducing Shakespeare to actors new to his works. 

Catherine graduated in the UK with an Honours degree in Performing Arts, and later, a PGCE.  In 2017, she completed a Masters in Professional Practice (Performing Arts) at The University of The Sunshine Coast trained by Lynne Bradley, company director of  Zen Zen Zo.
